Oh my goodness. Be careful. You don't want to hurt yourself at 28 such that you won't be able to be 100% operational! Hernia is a the biggest danger by forcing too much and badly. Beware!
From what I know of many places, the best way to limit fires is to clean the soil of brushes, not exposing too much the ground to the sun by clearcutting. It's Portugal, not Germany. It gets pretty dry and fast. You're are lucky to have plenty of water where you are but it might also be that shades are intense because everything seems abandoned. That could change as well if there would be too much exposure. Just thinking out loud here :)
I definitely need to be more mindful when moving things around in the forest. The rib is feeling a bit better almost two weeks on. I spoke to a doctor and he's not concerned.
The clear cut will definitely have some downsides to it but the bigger problem is that the Eucalyptus trees there are have already been cut at least once but never pruned since the last cut. Now they are crowding each other out and to prune them is too big of a job for us. It seems that the best solution is to clear cut and start from scratch, regrowing the trees in a more natural form by pruning from a young age.
There are thousands of hectares of plantation in a similar condition around us, a fire could easily did through this area but cutting this strip would provide a fire break whilst we work to get more native and resistant trees established. We are working on a video that will show in more detail the condition of the forest in that area.

Thanks for the well wishes.
